About our classes
All of our classes are planned and taught with climbers in mind, by climbers!
We provide complementary training that enhances our climbing by practicing:
BREATH CONTROL because if you forget to breathe things start to spiral out of control!
BALANCE static and dynamic. On hands, elbows, knees, feet and heads!
STRENGTH in our core! shoulders! forearms! wrists! legs! ankles!
FLEXIBILITY for freedom of movement in all our joints, and
FOCUS to effectively move with intention & control
These are fundamentals to being able to have fun whilst climbing strong!
Which is why we do it, right?!
Our classes cater to those trying yoga for the first time as well as experienced practitioners.
No prior yoga experience is needed.

Teaches on Mondays, Diep River
Yoga and climbing are my Yin and Yang - two inseparable parts interwoven to make the whole. As Yin is complete with a dot of Yang, my yoga practice found it's strength thanks to climbing. And as Yang is complete with a dot of Yin, my climbing is flexible and flows because of yoga. In my classes you can expect to work into the hips, explore twists, balance, strength through stability and find synchronicity between breath and movement. I love to teach slow steady flows inwhich we build our body awareness and have fun!

Each one teach one. Teaching Yoga at Bloc11 Studio has opened my eyes to a range of unique and proficient movers. Each person brings with them a perspective and way of being that offers value and insight into the complexity of being a human. I've discovered that Yoga is a moment beyond the mat, beyond the asana, and beyind the yogi. Our enviroment shapes us and in turn we begin to shape our enviroments. Yoga is the glue that keeps it all together.
Teaches on Thursdays, Paarden Eiland
I have a deep love and intrigue with the human condition - body, mind, soul, and heart space. As someone who has lived with some chronic health conditions, Yoga has always been my glue and through deep meditation I have found inner healing. Being a yoga teacher allows me to guide fellow yogis to a place where they are connected to their breath and the subtle energies of their bodies, a place where they are able to explore what their physical bodies are capable of. In class we focus on breathe control, deeper rounded core, mobility and strength, grounding our feet and moving through balance and extending power through finger/hand, arm and shoulder solidity. I am an eternal student. I live by restorative body awareness, self healing, meditation and interdisciplinary body movement, as well as with individual sports conditioning, maintenance and enhancement.

Yoga is my refuge from the chaos of the world - through my practice I find stillness, strength and stability. Yoga has allowed me to return to wellness over and over again, and each time I step into my practice I learn something new within my body and my mind. I am fascinated by the natural world and I spend as much of my time outdoors as possible, climbing, hiking or diving. I am an avid naturalist, enchanted by all the life that shares Earth with us. My yoga practice aligns perfectly with my pastimes - it keeps my body strong and supple, and my mind open to the magic of the world. Yoga has been my constant through the challenges in my life, as well as the times of bliss, offering me a lens of clarity and understanding through it all. I incorporate many styles of yoga into my classes - ashtanga, yin, kundalini, and everything in between. Classes are centred around movement improving mobility and strength, focusing on both the physical and mental demands of climbing. Expect a strong, playful flowing practice, interwoven with moments of softness and surrender. My aim is for each of my students to feel empowered in their practices, to challenge their perceived limitations and to find their own personal sanctuary.
Teachers on Tuesdays, Paarden Eiland
How I got into yoga is pretty much how I got into climbing, I showed up to a studio once and got hooked on the practice. It only took me a day to persuade myself to do my teacher training and it wasn’t long after my first climb that I got my very own climbing shoes! I teach various styles of yoga, including; vinyasa, hot26, heated yoga and yin yoga, for all levels. At Bloc 11 Studio, I incorporate elements of vinyasa (moving in the dynamic of one breath, one movement) and yin yoga (restorative) in my teaching. My classes focus on building strength and flexibility, working on controlled movements, and BREATH. All of these, act as a fondation, benefiting and gearing up the body for climbing.

I believe yoga can benefit everyone if practiced in a mindful and respectful manner. By listening to the cues we get from our body and using pranayama to remain present and aware of what is happening on the inside, yoga can transform your body and mind and take you to places you never imagined you could pretzel your way into. I have used yoga in all aspects of my personal life, from prenatal yoga through both pregnancies, to my days as an avid trail runner and also to rehab a rotator cuff tear after becoming weak from being unable to use my left arm due to a mountain biking accident which required me to undergo 3 surgeries to my clavicle in 6 months. I love spending time outdoors with my kids, tending to my collection of too many plants and swimming in the ocean with my husband.
